4 KNF members arrested in separate drives

Four Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) members have been arrested in separate drives in the district along with the jeep used in the bank robbery at Thanchi in Bandarban.

So far, five people have been arrested by the army, RAB, and Police in eight cases filed over the recent KNF rampage at Ruma and Thanchi upazilas in the district, said Bandarban Superintendent of Police Saikat Shahin.

He said one person from Thanchi and three from Ruma have been arrested. Earlier, the chief coordinator of KNF was arrested from Saran Para in Sadar upazila.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up across the district after the KNF rampage. Due to the closure of banks in Ruma, Thanchi, and Rowanchhari upazilas, long queues of customers at the main branch of Sonali Bank in Bandarban city.

Mentionable, on April 2 and 3, the KNF looted 14 weapons of law enforcement agencies and robbed three branches of banks in Ruma and Thanchi.

So far, four cases have been filed with Ruma and four with Thanchi police stations over the incidents.
