At least 40 individuals were injured in a violent clash between two groups during an arbitration meeting in Lakhai, Habiganj.

The incident took place around noon on Tuesday (April 1) at Purba Tegharia Tailor Hati, where a dispute escalated into a violent confrontation involving sticks and sharp weapons.

Among the injured, several individuals have been admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital, with two reported to be in critical condition.

According to police and local sources, the conflict stemmed from an earlier altercation in Dhaka involving Majid Mia, Iqbal Mia, Hero Mia, and Kamal Mia—residents of the area who work in Mirpur, Dhaka. Upon returning to their village for the Eid holidays, tensions resurfaced, leading to an argument between the groups in the morning, which later turned into a full-scale clash.

On information, police rushed to the scene and managed to bring the situation under control.

Lakhai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bande Ali confirmed the matter.

He said, "Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to prevent further incidents."
