418 BGB platoons deployed

A total of 418 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed for the first phase of the Upazila Parishad elections, slated to be held on Wednesday (May 8).

Md Shariful Islam, public relations officer of BGB, confirmed the matter on Tuesday (May 7).

He said, "A total of 418 platoons of BGB have been deployed ahead of the Upazila Parishad polls across the country following the demand of the local civil administration. Several more platoons of BGB have been kept ready."

"The BGB will work as a mobile and striking force from May 6 to May 10 to maintain peace and order in the election areas," he added.
