At least five people were killed and 20 others were injured when a bus ran a microbus over in the district's Muksudpur upazila on Wednesday. The identities of the deceased couldn’t be known immediately, say police. Muksudpur Police Station OC Ashraful Alam confirmed the deaths. He said that the incident took place around 11:30am near Chhagalchhira Bus stand.

গোপালগঞ্জের মুকসুদপুর উপজেলায় বাস ও মাইক্রোবাসের সংঘর্ষে ৫ জন নিহত হয়েছেন। নিহত সবাই মাইক্রোবাসের যাত্রী। বুধবার (২০ মার্চ) বেলা সাড়ে ১১টার দিকে উপজেলার ছাগলছিড়া বাসস্ট্যান্ড এলাকায় ফরিদপুর-বরিশাল মহাসড়কে ঘটনাটি ঘটে। তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে নিহতদের নাম-পরিচয় জানা যায়নি। মুকসুদপুর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) আশরাফুল আলম জানান, বেলা সাড়ে ১১টার দিকে বরিশাল থেকে ছেড়ে আসা গ্লোবাল পরিবহনের একটি বাস ঢাকার দিকে যাচ্ছিল। বাসটি পথে উপজেলার ছাগলছিড়া বাসস্ট্যান্ডে পৌঁছালে ঢাকা থেকে ছেড়ে আসা বরিশালগামী মাইক্রোবাসের সঙ্গে সংঘর্ষ হয়। এতে মাইক্রোবাসের ৫ যাত্রী ঘটনাস্থলেই নিহত হন। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীদের দাবি, দুর্ঘটনায় অন্তত ১৫-২০ জন আহত হয়েছেন।
