At least 51 dead deer, 12 more on Thursday, have been retrieved from different areas of the Sundarbans due to Cyclone Remal within just two days.
Forest department members recorded the dead deer from the Katka and Kachikhali areas of the East Sundarbans division on Wednesday and Tuesday.

Divisional officers of the Sundarbans East and West Divisions recently visited the Sundarbans affected by Remal under the leadership of Khulna Region Forest Conservator, Mihir Kumar, on Wednesday.

Members of the forest department are surveying various areas of the Sundarbans to assess the impact of Cyclone Remal on forest resources and wildlife.

However, the department has not yet disclosed the extent of the damage inflicted on the Sundarbans by Cyclone Remal.

Mihir Kumar said, "Two dead deer were recovered from Katka forest, and 10 deer along with one wild boar were recovered from Kachikhali."

"Earlier, on Tuesday, 39 dead deer and one wild boar were recovered from the Sundarbans and buried. In addition, 17 deer were rescued alive from various areas while floating in the water," he added.
