64 buses torched in 13 days in capital

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Friday (November 10) said total 64 buses were set on fire from 28 October to 9 November in the capital. As many as 64 cases were filed in this connection, according to DMP.

DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Mahid Uddin said so in a press conference organized at DMP media center on Friday. He said, "Some 12 people were apprehended for their involvement in arson attacks and petrol, gunpowder, matches, cotton, and ragged clothes were seized from their possession. He also said that one person died in Mohammadpur while setting fire."

Mahid Uddin also said that a young man named Naeem (22) died in the early morning of October 29 in the fire set by miscreants in capital's Demra. Another youth named Rabiul Islam (25) was burnt. Both of them were assistants of Ashim Paribahan bus driver. The incidents, that happened in the political programs since October 28, are undesirable, unexpected and unacceptable.

"Legal action will be taken against anyone who commits sabotage in the name of political program," DMP Additional Commissioner added.
