7 arrested over Bandarban bank robberies, car seized

Seven persons, including six members of Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) members have been arrested in separate drives in the district along with the jeep used in the bank robbery at Thanchi in Bandarban.

Confirming the matter, Ruma Army Zone Commander Lt. Col. KM Arafat Amin said, "Seven domestic weapons, 20 rounds of bullets, KNF uniforms and various equipment were recovered in the raid of Ruma Army in Bethel Para. At that time, Ruma Sonali Bank's assistant cashier and 2 other members of KNF were detained as suspects.

According to law enforcement forces, eight cases have been filed in Ruma-Thanchi in connection with the Kuki Chin National Front (KNF), an armed organization of hills in Ruma-Thanchi.

Army-RAB-Police raids are underway in Ruma, Thanchi, Rowangchari and Alikadam upazilas to detain those involved in the riots.

Mentionable, on April 2 and 3, the KNF looted 14 weapons of law enforcement agencies and robbed three branches of banks in Ruma and Thanchi.
