7 days’ investigation report not submitted in 3 months: Abantika's mother
There is no visible progress in the suicide case of Jagannath University law student Fairoz Sadat Abantika.
Accused teacher university assistant proctor Kazi Din Islam after coming out of jail on bail is trying to obstacle the progress of the investigation of the case, alleged Abantika's mother Tahmina Shabnam.
In addition to this, she said, the investigation committee of the university was supposed to submit its investigation report within seven days, but it has not been submitted in almost three months.
“I seek justice from the Prime Minister, punishment of those involved in inciting my daughter to commit suicide,” the mother told the reporters in frustration while addressing a p0ress conference organised at Bagichagawe in Cumilla city at 10am on Monday (May 3). Avantika's suicide case lawyer Masud Salauddin was also present there.
At the press conference, in a tearful voice Abantika's mother said the university administration is indifferent about Abantika's suicide case. They are not sincere about completing the investigation of the case.
Lawyer Masud Salahuddin said in the press conference, “The case was not recorded under the proper section of the law. The case is now in deep freeze. We want the case to be investigated with due importance. Those accused in this case should be grilled. One of the defendants in the case, assistant proctor of the university, Din Islam, is trying to influence the case after coming out of jail on bail.”
Mentionable, on the night of March 15, JnU student Fairoz Abantika committed suicide by hanging herself at her home after writing a note blaming JnU proctor Din Islam and classmate Amman Siddiqui. She wrote that Din Islam and Amman are responsible for her suicide.
Abantika's mother Tahmina Shabnam filed a case with Cumilla Kotwali Model Police Station as the plaintiff, alleging incitement to commit suicide. In the case, Amman, Din Islam and several unnamed others were made accused.
