8 pairs of Eid special trains to be operated in East Zone
To ensure the smooth travel of passengers during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr trips, Bangladesh Railway will operate eight pairs of special trains on the eastern region’s routes.
Apart from this, a total of 95 additional coaches will be added to the railway fleet.
Mohammad Saiful Islam, Chattogram divisional manager, said, "We will operate eight pairs of special trains on different routes in a bid to ensure hassle-free journeys for Eid holidaymakers."
Among them, two pairs of special trains will run on the Chattogram-Chandpur route, one pair on the Chattogram-Mymensingh and one pair on Dewanganj-Dhaka routes from April 5. These trains will continue operating for the next five days of Eid.
Besides, a pair of special trains will run on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar route on April 8 and 9 and three days after Eid. A pair of special trains from Joydevpur to Parvatipur will run on April 7, 8 and 9 and for three days after Eid.
According to the Railway Eastern Zone Authority, in addition to special trains, additional coaches will also be added to each train for the Eid journey. For this, 95 coaches have been prepared and handed over to the concerned department after renovation and repair in the railway workshop.
