BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi stated that a true people's politician never flees. He cited Begum Khaleda Zia as a prime example, saying, "Despite facing immense oppression, torture, and imprisonment, she never abandoned her people or her country. This is what sets BNP apart from others."

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made these remarks while speaking to journalists after paying tribute to the language martyrs by placing flowers at the Central Shaheed Minar on Friday (February 21) morning.

Rizvi said, "Many of our leaders and activists have been abducted and fallen victim to crossfire. After enduring their blood-soaked struggle, the final movement—the great revolution—took place in July-August. Through this, the brutal oppressor and bloodthirsty autocrat were forced to flee."

The senior BNP leader further stated, "We have crossed a significant phase—the downfall of autocracy has occurred. Now, we are walking the path toward democracy, placing our demands. Our primary demand is a free and fair election, with the national parliamentary elections being the top priority. Over the past 17 years, there has been a continuous attempt to destroy political forces and parties. We hope the interim government will first hold the national parliamentary election as part of the political process."

"We have repeatedly said that reforms should be made, but within a specific timeframe. After that, you must move toward the parliamentary elections," he added.
