Actress Nipun gets lifetime ban from Film Artists Association
The Bangladesh Film Artists Association (BFAA) has issued a lifetime ban to actress Nasrin Akter Nipun due to accusations of making false and fabricated statements using the association's official pad.
The decision was made unanimously at an executive council meeting on Sunday (January 19), confirmed the association's vice-president D A Tayeb.
The controversy stemmed from Nipun's statement on July 16 last year, made during the anti-quota movement. She referred to herself as the former general secretary of the association and posted the statement on social media, causing significant backlash.
The association issued a show cause notice to Nipun during a meeting on July 30, but she ignored it and continued her controversial actions, leading to her expulsion for misusing the association’s official pad and making negative remarks about the general secretary.
Nipun has been involved in various controversies recently, including criticisms regarding her association election and personal comments. Additionally, she faced issues when attempting to travel abroad, with her passport and documents being checked by the National Security Intelligence (NSI) at Osmani Airport in Sylhet, resulting in her flight being canceled after an hour of interrogation.
Her expulsion has sparked discussions and criticism within the film industry.
