Akhtar Ahmed has been appointed as the Senior Secretary of the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat. The Ministry of Public Administration announced this in a notification on Thursday. According to the notification, Akhtar Ahmed has been appointed as the Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat for a period of two years on the condition of giving up other work relationships. The notification also mentioned that other terms of this appointment will be determined by the contract. Earlier, Shafiul Azim, who was the EC Secretary, was made the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday.

নির্বাচন কমিশন (ইসি) সচিবালয়ের সিনিয়র সচিব হিসেবে নিয়োগ পেলেন আখতার আহমেদ। বৃহস্পতিবার জনপ্রশাসন মন্ত্রণালয় এক প্রজ্ঞাপনে এ তথ্য জানিয়েছে। এতে বলা হয়, আখতার আহমেদকে অন্যান্য কর্ম-সম্পর্ক পরিত্যাগের শর্তে দুই বছর মেয়াদে নির্বাচন কমিশন সচিবালয়ের সিনিয়র সচিব পদে চুক্তিভিত্তিক নিয়োগ দেয়া হয়েছে। এই নিয়োগের অন্যান্য শর্ত চুক্তিপত্র দ্বারা নির্ধারিত হবে বলেও প্রজ্ঞাপনে উল্লেখ করা হয়। এর আগে, গত মঙ্গলবার ইসি সচিব পদে থাকা শফিউল আজিমকে জনপ্রশাসন মন্ত্রণালয়ের বিশেষ ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওএসডি) করা হয়।
