AL, BNP to hold 'counter' programmes in capital again

The country's two major political parties -- Awami League and BNP -- will hold rallies in the capital on the same day.

BNP will hold a rally in front of the party's Nayapaltan central office on Friday (April 26), demanding the release of jailed party leaders including its Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Awami League will also hold a "peace and development rally" in front of its Bangabandhu Avenue headquarters.

At Friday's AL rally, party general secretary Obaidul Quader will be the chief guest while BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will be the chief guest at their programme.

On October 28, 2023, both BNP and Awami League organized rallies concurrently in the capital city, marking the last time they did so on the same day.
