AL invited to observe elections in India
India has invited the ruling Awami League (AL) from Bangladesh to observe the national elections in the neighbouring country. National elections are being held in seven phases in different states of India.
The ruling BJP has invited some foreign political parties to show their overall preparation and campaign in this election. Only AL has been invited from Bangladesh.
The BJP has been in power for a long time in India. On the other hand, in Bangladesh, the AL under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina has won four consecutive national elections and is running the state consistently.
AL Deputy Secretary Sayem Khan said it is significant that only Awami League was invited by the ruling party of India among the political parties of Bangladesh.
He said this invitation indicates that India, the world's largest democracy, considers Awami League as one of the most important political parties in South Asia and their true friend.
In the invitation letter sent to AL, it has been requested to send an AL representative to monitor BJP's election preparations and campaign.
