AL leader Gas Babu confesses his link

Kazi Kamal Ahmed, also known as Gas Babu, the Relief and Welfare Secretary of the Jhenaidah Awami League, provided a confessional statement on Friday in connection with the murder case of Jhenaidah-4 lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar.

So far, Babu is the fourth accused to give a confessional statement in the case.

Police brought the accused, Babu, before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim. The court then recorded Babu's statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for two hours. Afterward, he was sent to jail.

The fifth suspect, Saidul Karim Mintu, General Secretary of the Jhenaidah District Awami League, remains in custody on an eight-day remand.

Earlier, on June 6, a team from Dhaka Metropolitan Police detained Babu from the Adarshapara area of Jhenaidah city. Later, he was shown arrested in the case.
