Another 10,850 tonnes of rice arrives from India
Another 10,850 metric tonnes of rice has arrived in Bangladesh from India. This rice was imported by the Food Department.
This information was given by Imdad Islam, Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer of the Food Ministry, in a press release on Thursday (April 3).
He said that under the international open tender agreement (Package-8), the MV HT Unity ship carrying 10,850 metric tonnes of parboiled rice from India has reached the Chattogram Port.
Stating that the sample testing of the rice kept on the ship has already been completed, he added that the process of unloading the rice will start soon. Necessary measures have been taken for this.
It is worth noting that a decision has been made to import a total of 500,000 metric tonnes of rice from India under the open tender agreement. Of this, a total of 450,000 metric tonnes of rice has been imported in 9 packages. Already, 366,769 metric tonnes of rice have reached the country as per the agreement.
