Another 22 pushed in by BSF through Habiganj border
At least 22 people were pushed into Bangladesh allegedly by India's Border Security Force (BSF) through Kalengar Debrabari area of Chunarcharhat Upazila, under the jurisdiction of the Rema Border Outpost of Habiganj Battalion (55 BGB).
According to reports, the incident occurred during the night of May 29. The BSF forced the group back into Bangladesh through the border area.
Early Friday morning, upon receiving information, a patrol team from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) quickly reached the location and detained the individuals.
Preliminary interrogation confirmed that all detainees are Bangladeshi nationals hailing from Kurigram district. The group comprises 9 men, 8 women, and 5 children.
The detainees include Johar Ali (80), Md. Arif (19), Md. Asadul (30), and Mosha. Achiya Begum (60) from Hasnabad village of Nageshwari Upazila; Md. Ashraful (35), Mosha. Jahanara (30), Mosha. Kakli (10), and Mosha. Ashrafi (6) from Mondolgora village; Md. Aminul Islam (35); Mosha. Afroja (24) from Swadhirgram village, Ulipur Upazila; Md. A. Hamid (42), Mosha. Rehana Begum (40), Md. Sujan (22), Mosha. Hasi Khatun (18), Mosha. Parvin Begum (21), Md. Shahinur (3), Md. Hasanur (7), Md. Nazrul Islam (50), Mosha. Fatema Begum (47), Md. Imran Hossain (23), Mosha. Sabina (20), and Md. Ismail Hossain (2) from Kashipur village.
Lieutenant Colonel Md. Tanzilur Rahman, Commander of Habiganj Battalion (55 BGB), confirmed the incident and stated that legal action is underway.
This is not the first such incident. On May 26, the BSF reportedly pushed back 18 men, women, and children in a similar operation.
