Another accused arrested in Taqi murder case
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested another accused in the 2013 murder of 17-year-old Tanvir Muhammad Taqi, a student at ABC International School.
The suspect, Abdullah Al Mamun, also known as Jamai Mamun, was arrested on Monday night. He had been hiding in Dhaka for a long time but was caught while traveling to Khagrachari disguised as a member of the Tabligh Jamaat. His home is in the Charmonai area of Barisal’s Sadar police station.
According to RAB-11 ASP Sanad Barua, Mamun was brought to the Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge Court on Tuesday, but his remand hearing was delayed. It is now scheduled for Sunday (October 6). Mamun has been sent to court custody for now.
This brings the total number of people arrested in connection with Taqi's murder to six.
Taqi went missing on March 6, 2013, after leaving his home on Shaista Khan Road in Narayanganj to visit the Sudhijon Library. Two days later, on March 8, his body was found in the Kumudini canal of the Shitalakshya River.
