Another Bangladeshi dies while performing Hajj
Another Bangladeshi pilgrim died in Saudi Arabia while performing the holy Hajj, increasing the total death toll of pilgrims during Hajj to 11.
The deceased has been identified as Mumtaz Begum (63). She died in Mecca, according to the latest Hajj bulletin released on Thursday (June 6).
Mentionable, among the 11 Bangladeshi pilgrims who died so far, eight died in Mecca and three in Medina.
The bulletin also informed that 63,141 Bangladeshi pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia so far (June 5 at 2:59pm) to perform Hajj. They reached Saudi Arabia by a total of 162 flights. Among them, 4,165 people are performing Hajj under government management and 58,976 under private management.
According to religious ministry’s helpdesk information, the first flight of Bangladesh Airlines left Dhaka for Saudi Arabia on May 9 with 415 pilgrims. Since then, out of a total of 162 Hajj flights, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has operated 85 flights, Saudi Airlines 51 and Flinus Airlines 26. As of yesterday, 77.3 percent of the total flights, and 76 percent of the total Hajj pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia.
