Appeal hearing on Ishraque’s mayoral gazette tomorrow

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has scheduled the hearing on the gazette notification declaring BNP leader Ishraque Hossain as the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) for Thursday (May 29).

Additionally, the court will also hear a leave-to-appeal petition challenging the High Court’s rejection of a writ against Ishraque’s mayoral appointment. The petition seeks to overturn the lower court’s dismissal of a previous challenge to his assumption of office.

An Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed passed the order on Wednesday.

Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon represented Ishraque Hossain the court, while Advocate Mohammad Hossain appeared for the petitioner.

Earlier, on Wednesday (May 27), the Chamber Court scheduled a hearing on the appeal challenging BNP leader Ishraque Hossain’s appointment as the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation.
