Apurba, Orchita triumph at Dhallywood Film and Music Awards

The 23rd Dhallywood Film and Music Awards were held last Saturday at the Queens Theater Auditorium in New York, USA. During the event, renowned Bangladeshi actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba received the Best Actor award in the 'Best Web Series OTT' category for his performance in the web series 'Golam Mamun'. Upon receiving the award, Apurba expressed his gratitude to his co-actors Sabila Nur and Imtiaz Barshon.

'Golam Mamun' is a web series directed by Shihab Shaheen, based on the character 'Golam Mamun' from  Tanim Rahman Angshu's web series 'Buker Moddhye Agun'. Released on Hoichoi last year, the series follows Mamun, who is wrongfully accused of double murder and must flee from the police to prove his innocence. As the story unfolds, he faces even greater dangers as the conspiracy surrounding him deepens. The series is a gripping crime thriller.

Meanwhile, at the same event, Orchita Sporshia won the Best Drama Actress award for her role in the drama 'Noor'. She announced the news on her verified Facebook page on Sunday (January 19).

The drama 'Noor' portrays love, separation, and the brutal realities of the underworld, while also highlighting the affection for pet animals. Directed by Taufiqul Islam, it stars Orchita Sporshia alongside Musfiq R. Farhan.

The event also included popular actors such as Polash, Safa Kabir, Sabina Noor, Lamia Lam, villain Misa Sawdagar, actors Amit Hasan, Emon, actress Shabnam Bubli, Moushumi, Dighi, singer Selim Chowdhury, Protik Hasan, Bindu Kona, Rano Nawaz, Lalon singer Laila, Angkon, and well-known presenter Neel Hurerzahan.

The Dhallywood Film and Music Awards, hosted by Time Music, began in 2000. This year, awards were presented in 9 categories. It stands as the biggest entertainment event for the Bangladeshi diaspora.
