Army operation in Bandarban: KNA member killed
During a military operation in the remote Ruma area of Bandarban hill district, a member of the Kuki-Chin National Army (KNA), the armed wing of the separatist group KNF, was killed.
The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) disclosed the information on Tuesday (May 7).
ISPR reports that acting on intelligence, the army carried out a special operation in the Darjeeling Para of Ruma Upazila, a remote area of Bandarban. Five B-type patrol teams cordoned off the Darjeeling Para area at 5.00 am to commence the search operation. An armed KNA terrorist was shot dead on the spot in an exchange of fire between the terrorists and the army during a search operation by the patrolling team.
During the search operation, in addition to the bunker utilized by the KNA terrorists, authorities recovered an observation post. Among the recovered items were 3 AK-22 rifles, 1 shotgun, 71 rounds of fresh ammunition, 157 rounds of shotgun ammunition, a substantial quantity of explosive devices, 1 drone, 3 Jummland flags, and a walkie-talkie set accompanied by mobile phones.
In this regard, Md Shahjahan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ruma Police Station, said, "The body of a KNF member was recovered from Ruma Darjeeling Para and brought to the hospital. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the spot. However, the identity of the deceased KNF member remains undisclosed. Further details will be forthcoming following the post-mortem."
