Arrest warrants issued against Sheikh Hasina, Joy
A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrants against Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and 27 others in two separate corruption cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over allegations related to plot allotment.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib on Tuesday (April 15) accepted the charge sheets in the two cases submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). As the accused are currently absconding, the court has issued arrest warrants against them.
At the same time, the court has set April 29 as the date for submitting a report on the arrest status of the accused, said Aminul Islam, assistant director of the Prosecution Division of the ACC.
He said among the two cases, one involves 12 accused, and the other involves 17, bringing the total to 29 individuals.
So far, arrest warrants have now been issued against Sheikh Hasina in six cases filed by the ACC.
