ARSA allegedly abducts two Bangladeshi youths from Naf River
Two Bangladeshi youths were reportedly abducted while crabbing in the Naf River of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar. According to the families of the youths, they were allegedly abducted by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA). Following the incident, the victims' families lodged a written complaint at the police station.
The abductees are Chaila Mong Chakma, 29, son of deceased Ochamong Chakma, and Kyamongkho A Tanchangya, 25, son of Mongthaingching Tanchangya Chakma of Ward No 4 at Teknaf.
Chuching Cha Tanchangya, the mother of the abducted youth Kyamongkho Tanchangya, submitted a written complaint to the Teknaf police station and BGB-2 on Saturday. She said, "My son and grandson earn their livelihood by collecting crabs in the Naf River. On Thursday (May 16) around 9 am, they went to the Naf River as usual to catch crabs. However, as they did not return home by evening, I began searching in various places. It was then that I learned that members of ARSA had taken them from the Naf River."
Muhammad Osman Gani, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station, said, "We have received a complaint regarding the disappearance of two Chakma youths. We are currently investigating the matter."
Teknaf BGB-2 captain Lieutenant Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed said, "We are currently conducting an investigation into the matter."
