Arsenal thrash Chelsea 5-0 to open up Premier League lead
Kai Havertz and Ben White scored twice as Arsenal thrashed Chelsea 5-0 on Tuesday to surge ahead in the Premier League title race and ramp up the pressure on Liverpool and Manchester City.
Leandro Trossard was also on target for the Gunners, who move three points clear of Liverpool and four of Manchester City.
The destiny of the title remains in City's hands as the defending champions have two games in hand.
Liverpool have also played one fewer game than Arsenal and are in action at Everton in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday.
Leandro Trossard of Arsenal netted a goal in the 4th minute during Tuesday night's match. The Gunners then followed up with four additional goals in the second half.
White found the net for the first time in the 52nd minute, putting Arsenal ahead 2-0. Havertz then added his first goal just five minutes later, extending the team's lead to 3-0.
Havertz secured his second goal in the 65th minute, followed by White delivering the final blow (his second goal) into Chelsea's net in the 70th minute. Despite no further goals in the remaining period, Arsenal clinched a resounding 5-0 victory.
