Attack on students in Gazipur: 16 arrested, OC dismissed
A total of 16 people have been arrested so far in connection with the attack on students in Gazipur on Friday, according to police.
Besides, an officer-in-charge at the Gazipur Sadar Metro Police Station has been suspended for failing to immediately arrive at the scene of the attack despite being informed by students, said Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nazmul Karim Khan.
The police commissioner made the disclosure while expressing solidarity with the students protesting in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Rajbari Road in the city on Saturday afternoon (8 February).
In response, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement leaders Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam said they want to see at least 100 people arrested by today.
They also told police officials they want to see the Awami League men and their associates who were involved in the attack in jail by Sunday
