The fifth convocation of Chittagong University was a colorful event. The university graduates gathered in large numbers on their beloved campus to participate in this much-awaited event held after 9 years. The day was filled with joy, emotion and pride, and was also graced by family members.
The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has identified 563 hazardous locations across the city's canals and drains, with many sites lacking essential safety measures. Most of these locations are without protective fencing or slabs, and some are missing crucial manhole covers, posing a severe risk to public safety. In response, the CCC has committed to installing safety barriers and covers at all identified danger zones to prevent further accidents.
Once a popular household cottage industry, Shital Pati is disappearing under the pressure of plastic and cheap alternative products. The tradition of this craft is fading, and artisans are gradually leaving the profession opting for other livelihoods.
The body of six-month-old Seherish, who went missing after a battery-run autorickshaw fell into the Hijra Canal in the Kapasgola area under Chawkbazar Police Station, has been recovered.
