Autism suffering people should also be involved in implementation of Vision 2041: PM
The 17th World Autism Awareness is being observed in the country as elsewhere across the globe today (April 2) aiming to raise awareness, promote acceptance, and celebrate the unique strengths and experiences of autistic people.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave message on the eve of the day urging all concerned to come forward for the welfare of the disabled. The premier said, "People suffering from autism should also be involved in the implementation of Vision 2041"
This year's theme of the day is "Moving from Surviving to Thriving: Autistic Individuals Share Regional Perspectives."
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said the Awami League government has taken massive programmes for people with differently able and autism. The Awami League government is disabled-friendly government."
"I believe, if children and adolescents with autism characteristics are identified and developed in a humane environment with proper care, education, training and love, they will also become assets of the family, society and the state."
In 2008, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared April 2 as the World Autism Awareness Day to highlight the need to help improve the lives of children and adults who suffer from the disorder.
