Auto-rickshaw driver becomes victim of ‘ogyan party’
A CNG-driven auto-rickshaw driver was killed after being victim of ‘ogyan party’ at Dholaipar intersection at Shyampur in the capital.
The deceased has been identified as Md Mofiz (52), This incident happened around 11:00pm on Sunday. He was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in an unconscious state where the on-duty doctor declared him dead around 12:30am.
Mofiz, son of Karim Bepari, hailed from Ranga Chira village in Tangail Sadar. He lived in a rented house in Shyampur area.
Owner of the auto-rickshaw Al Amin said, “Mofiz used to drive my CNG on rent. On Sunday night, a fruit vendor from Dholaipar intersection saw the mobile number written on the CNG and called me. He told me that the driver is lying unconscious inside the CNG. Later, I quickly went there and rushed him to the DMCH where the doctor said that he is no longer alive.”
“I think the members of an ‘ogyan party’ fed him something and left him unconscious in the car. The fraudsters could not take the car as the driver's seat was blocked from inside,” he added.
Inspector Md Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the police camp at DMCH, said, “The body has been kept in the morgue of the hospital. The matter has been reported to the police station concerned.”
