Ban AL or whole country will march to Dhaka again: Nahid
Nahid Islam, the convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has warned that if a prompt decision is not made regarding banning the Awami League’s judicial and political activities, the entire country will once again march to Dhaka.
He made this warning during a blockade program at Shahbagh intersection this Friday evening.
Nahid said, “Blockades have been initiated in various parts of Dhaka city. If a swift decision is not made, then all of Bangladesh will once again march to Dhaka.”
He further added that the sit-in program at Shahbagh will continue until their demands are met.
He also expressed hope that regardless of political affiliation, all forces will unite in July to ban the Awami League and safeguard the country's sovereignty.
Meanwhile, on his verified Facebook account, the NCP leader outlined three demands, including the ban of the Awami League.
In his post, he wrote: the Awami League must be declared a terrorist organization and banned; provisions must be included in the International Crimes Tribunal Act to allow for collective prosecution of the Awami League; and a “July Declaration” must be issued.
