Bangladesh clinch series with two matches to spare
Bangladesh clinched the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, securing a 9-run victory over the visitors in the third T20I at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Tuesday (May 7). With this win, Nazmul Hossain Shanto's team sealed the series triumph with two matches still to spare.
Chasing 166, Zimbabwe managed to score 156 runs for 9 wickets. Faraz Akram emerged as the top scorer for the team, contributing 34 runs to the scoreboard. Marumani, the opener, played a valuable inning of 31 runs. Mohammad Saifuddin claimed 3 wickets for Bangladesh, while Rishad Hossain also managed to secure 2 wickets.
Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bowl, sending Bangladesh into bat. Litton Das contributed 12 runs, Tanzid Hasan Tamim added 21, and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 6 before Bangladesh lost three wickets for 60 runs. Following this, Towhid Hriday and Zaker Ali Anik formed a partnership, adding 87 runs together.
Towhid Hriday showcased a brilliant innings, scoring 57 runs off 38 balls, while Zaker Ali contributed 44 runs off 34 balls. On the bowling front for Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani was exceptional, taking 3 wickets for a mere 14 runs in his 4 overs.
The series still has two matches remaining, both of which will be played at the Mirpur Sher Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
