Bangladesh police are now capable of halting movement in American style: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, Bangladesh police can now suppress the movement in the style of the American police. I think journalists will support us in this regard.
The preimierr came up with the remarks during a press briefing at her official residence, Ganabhaban, on Thursdayy (May 02).
Sheikh Hasina said, "We urged for patience. Recall October 28th? I urged the police to remain patient. As a result, they were brutally attacked by BNP, leading to fatalities. Additionally, their hospital and vehicles were targeted. Now, our police have the capacity to quell unrest in a manner akin to American practices. I believe journalists will stand by us in this endeavor."
The prime minister also said, "Awami League has actively voiced protests over the deaths of two Bangladeshis in America; our presence is noted there. Continuous loss of lives and ongoing human rights violations occur in America - that's where their attention should be focused. It's essential to address domestic issues first."
Regarding the ongoing heat wave, the PM said, "Heat is a familiar occurrence; the country has experienced heatstroke before. I've urged everyone to proceed with caution, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and stay well-hydrated. The government is implementing various measures, including raising awareness, to address the situation."
