Bangladesh win Test at home
After five Tests without a win, Bangladesh got a taste of victory at home. The Tigers defeated Zimbabwe by an innings and 106 runs in the second Test in Chattogram to end the series 1-1. This was Bangladesh's only win in the last 17 months.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz's century and five wickets took Bangladesh ahead. This was one of the best performances of his career in Test cricket. He became the third Bangladeshi to score a century and take five wickets in a Test, joining Shakib Al Hasan and Sohag Gazi. Apart from Miraz, Taijul Islam made a big contribution in the match by taking nine wickets, and opener Sadman Islam also scored a great century.
Zimbabwe scored 227 runs in the first innings. In reply, the Tigers scored 444 runs, taking a lead of 217 runs. Then, the visitors were bundled out for just 111 runs in the second innings. As a result, the hosts celebrated their Test victory in just three days.
With this win, Bangladesh not only leveled the series, but also ended their long wait for a Test win on home soil.
