Bangladeshi killed in BSF firing in Cumilla
A Bangladeshi was fatally shot by an Indian border guard (BSF) in Jamtala, situated along the Indian border area under Burichang upazila in Cumilla.
The incident took place at 66 number pillar area around 8.00am on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Anwar Hossain (50), son of Charu Mia of Mirpur in the same upazila.
According to the locals, a Bangladeshi was shot dead by the Indian border guard (BSF) while bringing sugar from India. A group of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) platoons of the local Shankuchail camp went to the barbed wire fence area and found the body.
Abul Kashem, a local UP member, said, "The locals heard gunshots in Jamtala Uttarpara border area around 8.00am on Sunday. Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) is trying to officially communicate with BSF in this regard. Arrangements are underway to retrieve the body."
