Bangladeshi movie 'Nirban' wins award at Moscow Film Festival
Bangladeshi movie 'Nirban' has won Special Jury Award at the Moscow Film Festival in Russia. The film won two awards at the festival, best director and best cinematography in the official category.
The awards were announced at the festival's closing ceremony on Friday (April 26), says a press release.
The director of the movie, Asif Islam, told the media, “I could not believe the news of getting the award. It is one of the best achievements of my life. Only 11 movies made it to the official selection out of thousands of movies from around the world. Among those movies, our movie won the Special Jury Award. I was stunned after the name of our movie was announced. I am still in a daze after receiving the award. This achievement has given us a lot.”
The Moscow Festival began on April 19. Asif Islam participated in the festival from the beginning.
Mentionable, the shooting of the movie 'Nirban' started in 2022 when many people were dying due to corona pandemic. At that time of panic, young filmmaker Asif Islam had the idea of making a movie with a small team. Emphasising on the story, he started the shooting of the experimental film. This is the director's first movie. He made the movie spending a long time.
