Bangladesh's 'Ali' gets special recognition at Cannes

Bangladeshi short film 'Ali' has received special recognition at the 78th Cannes International Film Festival.

The film, directed by Adnan Al Rajib, has been honoured in the "Special Mention" category of the short film section. The winners were announced on the closing day of the festival.

For the first time, a Bangladeshi film has competed in the short film section of the Cannes Film Festival.

Director Adnan Al Rajib's wife, popular actress Mehjabeen Chowdhury, shared this good news on social media platform Facebook.

According to the information given on the official website of the Cannes Films Festival, the story of the film 'Ali' is based around a coastal town in Bangladesh, where women are not allowed to sing. A teenager growing up in such an environment participates in a local singing competition and dreams of moving to the city from there. However, there is a mystery behind his singing this song. Al Amin plays the title character in the film.
