Following a disappointing performance against India, Bangladesh has also begun the two-match Test series against South Africa on a low note. In the first innings of the opening Test at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Najmul Hossain Shanto's team was bowled out for just 106 runs.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Bangladesh quickly found themselves in trouble. The collapse began with Shadman Islam's dismissal for a duck. Shortly after, Mominul Haque (4), Shanto (7), Mushfiqur Rahim (11), Liton Das (1), and Mehedi Hasan Miraz (13) fell in rapid succession. Mahmudul Hasan Joy managed to provide some resistance with a score of 30 runs off 97 balls. However, debutant Zakir Ali Anik was dismissed for only 2 runs, leaving the team at 76 for 8.

In the end, Bangladesh finished with a total of 106 runs, thanks to Taijul Islam’s late contribution of 16 runs. For South Africa, Wiaan Mulder and Kagiso Rabada each took three wickets, while Keshav Maharaj claimed two.
