Banks to be open in some areas during the Eid holidays
The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has informed that some banks will remain open in some areas on a limited basis during the weekends and public holidays before Eid.
According to a BB circular issued today (March 31), some branches of scheduled banks will be open for three days in a limited range to facilitate the payment of salaries, bonuses and other allowances to the workers, employees, officials working in the garment industry and payment of export bills. These branches of industrial areas will be open on April 5, 6 and 7.
It also said that in order to facilitate the payment of export bills, salaries, bonuses and allowances before the coming Eid-ul-Fitr,, the respective branches of scheduled banks located in Dhaka city, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chattogram have to be kept open.
Apart from this, the BB circular said that banking activities will be conducted on a limited scale with a limited number of manpower on April 5, 6 and 7 in these areas by ensuring adequate security.
According to the circular, bank transactions will continue on April 5 from 9:30am to 12:30pm and the banks will be open from 9:30am to 3:00pm. However, there will be a break for Friday prayers from 1:00pm to 1:45pm.
On the other hand, on April 6 and 7, bank transactions will continue from 9:30am to 1:00pm.
The bank will be open from 9:30am to 2:30pm. However, there will be a break for Zohar prayer from 1.15pm to 1.30pm.
