The election for the executive committee of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) for the term 2024-26 is underway in the capital.

BASIS, the premier organization in the nation's software sector, is conducting the election to select 11 members for its executive committee. Among these positions, eight will be filled from the general category of BASIS, while one each will be selected from the associate, affiliate, and international categories. A total of 33 candidates are contesting for these 11 positions in the election. These candidates are contesting across three panels: 'Team Success', 'One Team', and 'Team Smart'.

For the past few years, BASIS elections have been conducted with the participation of three panels. According to those involved, there is anticipation of intense competition in the elections. The probability of all 11 positions being filled from a single panel is lower this time.

In the election, there are a total of 1,464 voters. Of these, 932 voters are in the general category, 389 voters are in the associate category, 134 voters are in the affiliate category, and 9 voters are in the international category.

The elections for the distribution of posts among the 11 elected directors will take place next Thursday. The results of post allotment will also be announced on the same day. TIM Nurul Kabir, the chairman of the three-member election board, will reveal the new committee of BASIS ‍at 5.00pm on May 11.
