BCB announces squad without Shakib and Tamim

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament. Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal did not make it to the squad.

Shakib was banned for illegal bowling action. Although this all-rounder had the opportunity to play as a batter, the selectors did not include him in the squad. On the other hand, Tamim announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket just before the squad was announced. As a result, he is not expected to get a place in the Champions Trophy squad.

Bangladesh will play the ICC Champions Trophy without these two legendary cricketers. Nazmul Hasan Shanto will lead the team. Although the two superstar cricketers are not present, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad will represent the team as seniors.

Litton Kumar Das is out of form. This wicketkeeper-batter was on the selectors' radar in the BPL. But Litton could not do anything good here. That is why he was not included in the Champions Trophy team. The team's pace department has been arranged by combining batting and bowling. Taskin, Mustafiz, Nahid Rana and Tanjim Hasan Sakib have made it to the team. Leg-spinner Rishad has been kept in the spin along with Nasum ansd Miraz. Parvez Hossain Emon has been included as the backup opener in the opening match. There is an opportunity to make changes to the squad until February 13.

Bangladesh last played in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy held in England in 2017. This is their best success in this tournament. This time, Pakistan is the host country.

Although the Champions Trophy match will also be held in the United Arab Emirates following the hybrid model. Bangladesh will have a mission to get their best success in this tournament. The tournament will start in Pakistan from February 19.
