BCL demands re-introduction of student politics at BUET
The Bangladesh Chhatra League today demanded the re-introduction of student politics at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and protested the authority's unconstitutional, contrary to fundamental rights, and anti-education decision.
This student organization started the programme at Central Shaheed Minar at noon on Sunday (March 31). On the other hand, general students are protesting to stop student politics on the campus.
BCL president Saddam Hussain is presiding over the protest rally.
A notice, signed by Bangladesh Chhatra League Office Secretary Meftahul Islam Pantho, was issued regarding the rally. According to the notice, the programme has been organized to demand systematic student politics in BUET by freeing the black shadow of fundamentalist groups and against the unconstitutional, anti-fundamental rights, and anti-educational decisions taken by BUET.
In 2019, after the murder of student Abrar Fahad, BUET authorities banned student politics on campus. In this circumstance, some activists of Chhatra League carried out activities on the campus last Wednesday night. The general students have been protesting against this since Friday.
