BCL leaders enter BUET
Central leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have entered Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET) campus on Sunday (March 31) noon. At this time, they paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman placing a floral wreath before his mural.
A procession led by central BCL President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan entered the BUET campus.
Prior to that, the BCL held a protest rally where the BCL leader termed the banning of student politics in BUET by the university administration as an unconstitutional, anti-fundamental rights and anti-educational decision.
The BCL leaders protested the cancellation of the allotted seat of Imtiaz Hossain Rahim Rabbi, a student of the 21st batch of civil engineering department of BUET, from the residential hall. They gave a 24 hours ultimatum to the BUET administration to return Rabbi's seat.
From the rally, they brought out a protest procession, and entered into the BUET campus. After paying tribute to the mural of Bangabandhu, they left the campus within 30 seconds.
Although the BCL president and general secretary left the campus, other leaders and activists still stayed on the campus, offering flowers and taking pictures at BUET Shaheed Minar. But they did not give any slogan. Dhaka University Chhatra League president Mazharul Kabir Sayan and general secretary Tanveer Hasan Saikat were present along with leaders and activists of various units. The main gate of BUET and the entrances to various halls were then closed.
Meanwhile, on Sunday afternoon, BUET Vice-Chancellor Dr Satya Prasad Majumdar said that student politics can be introduced again in the campus if the teachers and students want.
