Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has firmly declared that the mystery behind the brutal BDR killings must be solved by June.

He made the statement during a meeting held at the State Guest House Jamuna on Wednesday afternoon (April 16) to review the progress of the investigation commission formed to uncover the mystery behind the BDR killings.

"Officers were brutally killed—and in a highly organised manner. The commission must uncover the truth behind this incident, as the entire nation is now looking to it for answers," he said.

The commission assured that the investigation into the BDR killings is moving forward swiftly and that the final report is expected to be completed by June.

Commission chief Major General (retd) Alam Fazlur Rahman said, "Given that the incident took place 16 years ago, reaching out to many individuals is taking time. Several of the accused are currently abroad, and information about them is being gathered with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."

"Some of the individuals in prison have been interviewed, while 23 are abroad, 8 of whom have been contacted for interviews," he added.

"We are studying the pattern of killings and torture. After the DG's murder, others were killed in a well-planned sequence. Much like the Plassey conspiracy, this too was part of a larger plot, the origins of which we need to uncover," said Major General Fazlur Rahman.

Another member of the commission, Major General (retd) Jahangir Kabir Talukder said, “Even after such a horrific murder, no officer or employee has been held accountable or removed. This marks a combined failure of the intelligence agencies, the military and the political leaders.’

prominent commission members include Brigadier General Md Saidur Rahman, Munshi Alauddin Al Azad, Dr M Akbar Ali, Md Shoriful Islam, Shahnewaz Khan Chandan and ATKM Iqbal were also present at the meeting.
