Bengali name of women and children affairs ministry being changed

The government has taken an initiative to change the Bengali name of Women and Children Affairs Ministry.

The ministry is being renamed from ‘Mahila O Shishu Bishoyok Montronaloy’ to ‘Nari O Shishu Bishoyok Montronaloy’, said state minister to the ministry Simin Hossain Rimi at a press conference at Directorate of Information and Communication Technology on Thursday (March 7).

The state minister said, “We have made a decision. Our constitution does not have the word ‘mahila’, it has the word ‘nari’. So, we have proposed to rename our ministry as ‘Nari O Shishu Bishoyok Montronaloy’. It has already been discussed in the Parliamentary Standing Committee.”

Earlier on February 25, the standing committee recommended changing the name of the ministry to ‘Nari O Shishu Bishoyok Montronaloy’.
