A vibrant festival marking the onset of Bengali Year 1431 was held at Ramna Batamul in the capital. Featuring songs and poems, the event drew to a close with cultural performances. People from all walks of life, regardless of religion, caste, class, rich, and poor took part in this festival which started at 6:15am on Sunday (April 14).

This event of Pahela Baishakh has turned into a huge colourful festival.

From early in the morning, Ramna Park was filled with people. The colors red and white dominated their attire. Women are dressed in red and white sarees, glass bangles, and dul-malas. The men are adorned with the same color-patterned Punjabi. Besides, many have decorated the head with the red-green national flag print band. They attended Ramna Batamul Chhayanaut’s morning program song and poetry session.

The entire program of Chhayanaut is arranged in a new soft light with songs of nature, human love-patriotism, and self-realization-awakening. This year’s program features 11 ensemble songs, 15 solo songs, as well as readings and recitals.

Poems were recited by actor and reciter Jayanto Chattopadhyay and Ramendu Mazumdar. Apart from this, Sarwar Ali, a member of the executive council of Chhayanaut, read a written statement on behalf of the organization.
