BGB handed over body of Indian citizen to BSF

Body of a missing Indian national has been found on Bangladesh side of the border.

The mystery surrounding the recovery of this body on the India-Bangladesh border near Balurghat, a town in the north of West Bengal, is becoming more and more intense.

After identification, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) handed over the body to Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday (November 8). On this day, a flag meeting between BGB and BSF was held at the zero point of Bhatshala Indo-Bangladesh border over handing over the body.

Police officers of West Bengal's Balurghat police station were also present there.

Earlier, although the post-mortem of the body was done in Bangladesh, but its report has not yet arrived, so the police of Balurghat police station has sent the body for post-mortem following the rules.

According to sources, the deceased, Sukanth Chakraborty, is a primary school teacher by profession in Balurghat.

Sources said he left the house saying he was going to the market. But even after three days passed, he was not found. However, a missing diary was filed at Balurghat police station on behalf of the family.

However, after three days, BGB recovered his body from Bangladesh side of the border.

After the news was sent to the family, they identified the body. The family members have alleged that behind the death of the person is the conspiracy of illegal usury traders. He went to the usurers because of the debt.

The family of the deceased wants a proper investigation of the incident and quick punishment of the culprits.

Sumant Dey, a resident of the area, said, “The body has injury marks on its head. The body appears to have been murdered and floated on the river.”
