With the goal of ensuring sustainable progress in Bangladesh’s garment industry, the panel 'Forum', participating in the upcoming BGMEA (Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association) election, has announced a 14-point manifesto.

The alliance has pledged to transform the garment sector into a stronger and future-ready industry by implementing these points if they win the election.

On Saturday (May 24), Forum panel leader Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu read out the manifesto during a candidate introduction and manifesto declaration event at the BGMEA building in Uttara of Dhaka.

Present at the event were Forum President Abdus Salam, Secretary General Dr. Rashid Ahmed Hossaini, Chief Election Coordinator Faisal Samad, and other candidates.

The 14-point manifesto includes, Formation of a separate ministry for the garment sector. Ensuring fair prices from buyers. Expansion into new markets. Formation of region-based crisis response cells. Taking a strong stance against unethical pressure from buyers

The Forum panel leader said, “We want to build a transparent and effective BGMEA by staying connected with our members. If elected, directors will be assigned responsibility over specific factories so they can support them during crises. At the same time, we must prepare our workforce to face future challenges.”

Meanwhile, a candidate introduction event was also held for general members. Through this initiative, the Forum panel leader introduced his team to the BGMEA’s general members.

Forum stated that, considering the challenges of the future garment sector, the alliance has chosen experienced entrepreneurs, visionary individuals, and youth. The panel includes both SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) entrepreneurs and has given importance to women leadership. If elected, Forum pledged to take steps to restore BGMEA’s lost reputation and image.

They have presented a full panel of 35 candidates—26 in Dhaka and 9 in Chattogram—and have been assigned ballot numbers 1 to 35.
