Biman operates all-women flight marking Int’l Women’s Day
On International Women's Day (March 8), Biman Bangladesh Airlines made history by operating its first-ever international flight with an all-female crew. This remarkable achievement highlights the airline's commitment to gender equality and celebrates the contributions of women in the aviation industry.
Biman operated such a flight to show respect to the professionalism and skills of women, a Biman press release said .
Flight BG-349, traveling on the Dhaka-Dammam route, departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:30 PM. The pilot, cabin crew, and even all the ground staff of the flight were women.
Senior Captain Alia Mannan served as the pilot in command, with First Officer Fariha Tabassum supporting the flight.
In accordance with the directive from Biman Bangladesh Airlines' Managing Director and CEO Shafiul Azim, this remarkable initiative was undertaken as a tribute to the women employees of the carrier on International Women's Day.
On the occasion, Azim said that the female officers and employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines are actively contributing alongside their male counterparts to realize Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's vision of transforming the state-owned carrier into a smart airline.
