Blockade hampers JU administrative activities
In a demonstration of solidarity and demand for justice, a group of teachers and students at Jahangirnagar University (JU) locked the administrative building for the third consecutive day with five-point demands.
The administrative activities of the university came to a standstill due to movement on Wednesday (March 13). The protestors locked the entire administrative building to refrain the officials from entering the building.
The blockade programme of the anti-oppression platform is based on five-point demands, including JU Proctor’s and Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall's provost's criminal investigation and exemption from administrative posts.
These five-point demands include: ensuring maximum punishment for rapists and their accomplices; ensuring accommodation for regular students by removing expired students from halls and abolishing common rooms; and identifying and prosecuting those involved in ragging culture; Bringing to justice those accused of various crimes at various times on campus.
Meanwhile, Prof Parvin Jolly, the organizer of the anti-oppression stage, announced the programme on Sunday night. Since then, the movement has been going on continuously.
