BNP announces fresh programme
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) announced a leaflet distribution and mass contact programme on March 9 in protest against the hike in commodity, power, gas and energy prices.
BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced this at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office on Wednesday.
He said, "After coming to power, the Awami League government did road shows in London and Singapore to attract investment in the energy sector. But they could not bring foreign investment in this sector."
Rizvi said, "Thye looted the power sector. The indemnity law was created to escape from the hands of the law. Electricity prices have increased by 130 percent in the last 14 years. The price has been increased 13 times."
Highlighting the increase in the price of sugar and dates, the senior joint secretary general of BNP said, "People are no longer able to buy dates. The price of dates has increased by Tk 500-700 per kg."
Rizvi, on the advice of industries minister to have Iftar with plums, said, "The ministers of the dummy government are treating common people with contempt."
